The first domestically developed equipment featuring a 250 mm diameter two-way cartridge valve, specifically designed for the flushing backhaul control valve group project by CSIC Haiyue Company, has been successfully deployed and recently passed user acceptance. This marks a significant milestone in China's advancement in hydraulic control technology.
The successful development of this flush return control valve group is built upon the earlier achievement of the hydraulic hoist system for the Three Gorges Permanent Ship Lock—the world's largest ship lock—as part of the Three Gorges Project. This project represents another successful application of large and medium-sized electro-hydraulic control systems, showcasing the company’s growing expertise in complex hydraulic solutions.
The flush return control valve group utilizes a 250 mm diameter two-way cartridge valve, which is twice the size of the 125 mm valves used in the Three Gorges hydraulic hoist system. It controls oil pressure, flow, and direction through mechanical leverage, enabling precise motion control. The system drives a forging hammer to perform both free-fall and vertical lifting motions, effectively achieving the forging action. As a key component developed for Liaoyang Heavy Industry Group and installed in a 3,000-ton hydraulic block forging machine, this valve group features high technical complexity, fast response times, and a high level of integration. Its performance exceeds 80 mm in critical parameters, making it one of the few such systems available domestically. Previously, similar equipment was entirely imported.
The 704 Institute has a long history in hydraulics, with its first two-way cartridge valve developed and manufactured as early as 1980. Following the successful bid by 704 Haiyue Company, the hydraulic hoist system for the Three Gorges Permanent Ship Lock was developed and has been in operation for over 1,865 days, proving its reliability and performance.
This breakthrough not only highlights the technical capabilities of Chinese manufacturers but also reduces dependency on foreign suppliers, paving the way for future advancements in industrial automation and heavy machinery.
