The 888 desulfurization technology, developed by Changchun Dongshi Electronics Co., Ltd., is a state-of-the-art wet oxidation desulfurization method. The core principle involves using the 888 desulfurization catalyst to facilitate redox reactions in the liquid phase, converting hydrogen sulfide (Hâ‚‚S) absorbed by a weakly alkaline solution into elemental sulfur, which then precipitates out. This catalyst has a strong ability to adsorb and activate oxygen, making it highly effective in oxidizing Hâ‚‚S.
The desulfurization solution consists of just an absorbent and the 888 catalyst, making the system simple and easy to manage. The catalyst exhibits excellent activity with minimal usage, resulting in low consumption. Typically, for every 1 kg of Hâ‚‚S removed, only 0.5g to 0.9g of the 888 catalyst is required. This makes it one of the most advanced desulfurization technologies in China.
This technology is suitable for both low-concentration (less than 3g/standard cubic meter) and high-concentration (3g–50g/standard cubic meter) H₂S environments, offering high desulfurization efficiency. It effectively removes not only inorganic sulfur but also 50% to 80% of organic sulfur. Compared to other wet oxidation methods, it significantly reduces exhaust emissions—by more than one-third. Additionally, it helps prevent sulfur plugging in towers, minimizes side reactions, lowers soda consumption, and ensures a high sulfur recovery rate with low desulfurization costs.
The process is flexible, requiring only moderate equipment conditions. It produces large sulfur particles that float easily, resulting in low solution viscosity and simplified separation. The technology is widely applicable across various industries, including coke oven gas desulfurization in the coking industry, city gas treatment, synthesis gas purification, methanol production, natural gas processing, municipal waste gas treatment, pharmaceutical plants, biogas purification, and more.
