The Orland Fire Protection District is set to begin a major renovation of Station #2, marking an important step in modernizing their facilities to better serve the community. Located at 151st and 80th Avenue, this station was originally constructed in 1980 as a simple structure designed for volunteer firefighters and POC (Public Office Contact) personnel. At the time, it featured just one bay, along with a small office, kitchen, and day area—intended more for part-time use rather than full-time staffing or emergency response. Over the years, as the district’s service demands grew, so did the role of Station 2. The facility underwent several updates, including the addition of new bays and an expanded kitchen and living area, allowing for overnight stays and 24-hour operations. However, due to the numerous additions and reconfigurations over the decades, bringing the station up to current building codes would only be a temporary fix. Recognizing this, the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees approved a complete and comprehensive remodel during their June 2013 meeting. The project is now underway and is expected to take approximately eight weeks, with work starting in the fall of 2013. This renovation will not only bring the station up to code but also improve safety, functionality, and comfort for the firefighters who serve there. An artist's rendering of the updated design has already been released, offering a glimpse into the future of Station #2. You can view the full renovation plans by clicking [HERE](#). Additionally, a photo of the current station is available below, showing its existing layout before the changes begin.
