The Orland Fire Protection District is preparing to start a major renovation of Station #2. This project marks an important step in modernizing one of the district’s key facilities to better serve the community and meet current safety standards.
Station 2, located at 151st & 80th Avenue, was originally constructed in 1980 as a basic facility for volunteer firefighters and POC (Part-Time On-Call) personnel. At the time, it had just one fire bay, along with a small office, kitchen, and day area—designed more for temporary use rather than full-time operations. Over the years, as the department's needs grew, the station underwent several upgrades to support overnight stays and 24-hour service. Additional bays were added, and the kitchen and common areas were expanded to accommodate more personnel and longer shifts.
However, due to the many modifications and additions over the decades, bringing Station 2 up to current building codes would only be a temporary fix. In June 2013, the Orland Fire Protection District Board of Trustees made the decision to go ahead with a complete and comprehensive renovation. The project is now set to begin this fall and is expected to take around eight weeks to complete.
An artist’s rendering of the new design has been released, showing a modernized layout that will improve functionality, safety, and comfort for the firefighters who serve there. You can view the detailed renovation plans [here](#).
In the meantime, here's a look at how the station currently stands:
