Last week, I had the chance to stop by a location in Chicago that caught my attention—a red 'X' marked building on Thomas and Central Park. It’s been a spot associated with past incidents of fire, and I thought it would make for an interesting photo opportunity. When I got there, most of the activity seemed to have wrapped up. The lighting was surprisingly good, which is something you don’t always get in urban settings like this.
As I stood there taking photos, I couldn’t help but think about how different firefighting operations look under various conditions. The first image I captured really highlighted the starkness of the scene—the charred remains against the backdrop of a clear afternoon sky. In another shot, I focused on one of the engines, Engine 44, parked nearby. Its presence added a sense of preparedness and professionalism to the image.
