Cummins Corporation recently marked its 30th anniversary in China, a milestone that highlights the company's long-term commitment to the Chinese market. As part of the celebration, the global board of directors held its first meeting in China, with Shanghai being the initial destination for the visit. During their trip, the board members and senior leaders toured Shanghai Fleetguard Filters Co., Ltd., a key subsidiary of Cummins.
Shanghai Fleetguard, a joint venture between U.S.-based Fleetguard and Dongfeng Motor Corporation (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cummins), has been a leader in the filtration industry since its establishment in 1994. It was the first filter manufacturer in China to receive ISO-9001 and QS-9000 international quality certifications. Over the past nine years, the company has maintained steady growth, securing a strong position in the traditional diesel filter market while actively expanding into the passenger car segment. Fleetguard became one of the first global brands to enter the passenger car filter market, collaborating with major automotive manufacturers such as Citroën, Nissan, Honda, Chevrolet, and Ford.
Looking ahead, Shanghai Fleetguard plans to increase investment, expand production capacity, and introduce new products to meet growing demand. In August of this year, Cummins and Dongfeng signed a new joint venture agreement to establish an exhaust systems company in Xiangfan, Hubei Province. This new venture will produce Fleetguard’s silencers and exhaust pipes, among other components. The products are expected not only to serve the local market but also to be exported internationally.
