Hey everyone,
Just got this update from John Tulipano about what went down at the West Chicago Fire Department’s recent awards and promotions ceremony last Friday. It was a big day for several members of the team.
First up, we had Chief Pat Tanner presenting a well-deserved retirement gift to Deputy Chief Joe Buenrostro. He retired on February 27th, 2015 after an impressive 40 years of service to the West Chicago FPD. It's always bittersweet when someone with so much dedication hangs up their hat, but it sounds like Joe is more than ready for the next chapter in his life.
Check out the picture—Joe looks proud and happy, just like you'd expect. John Tulipano snapped that shot, and as always, his photography does justice to the moment.
Then there was Erik Ronge, who just finished his probationary period. His parents were there to celebrate with him, and it’s great to see family supporting someone through such a pivotal moment in their career. Erik must be thrilled to have made it through and officially joined the ranks.
Next up, meet newly promoted Battalion Chief Jeff Buccola. His wife helped pin on his badge, which is such a sweet touch. You can really feel the love and pride in that image too. Another standout moment was when Lieutenant Ken Zahara received his promotion. His daughter handed him his new helmet, and later, his wife helped pin on his badge. That kind of family involvement makes these moments even more special.
It’s clear that this isn’t just a job for these firefighters—it’s a calling, one they share with their loved ones. The energy in those photos speaks volumes about how much this department values tradition and community.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the recap! Let me know if you want to hear more details about any of the individuals mentioned here.
Take care,
