During the signing ceremony held in Hangzhou, Jim Lynch, Vice President of the Building and Collaboration Group at Autodesk, and Jia Xiaoping, President and Director of Glodon, officially signed the MoU. According to statistics from China's National Bureau of Statistics, the total output of China's construction industry surpassed 15 trillion yuan in 2013. Despite the immense size and rapid growth of this market, there remain several challenges, including relatively low levels of informatization and productivity. These issues were highlighted in the "12th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Construction Industry" issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHURD). Simultaneously, BIM—a comprehensive process based on 3D modeling that enables architects, engineers, builders, and owners to explore and optimize a project’s key physical and functional attributes like cost, scheduling, and environmental impact before construction begins—has been highly recognized for accelerating informatization and improving productivity.
