Patio Heaters
Whether you're using them for your home or a business, outdoor patio heaters are a great way to extend the enjoyment of your outdoor space, even during colder weather. Taking care of your investment in outdoor ambiance means ensuring regular checks and quality repairs. At AEI, we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service and top-notch replacement parts for all the outdoor heating products we sell. Regular maintenance and timely replacements of worn or broken parts will significantly extend the lifespan of your heaters.
All of our Patio Comfort products are crafted to the highest standards, but like any equipment, they'll eventually require attention. Common wear and tear issues for patio heaters include:
These are typical problems you might encounter with normal use. Many of these issues can be easily fixed, while others may require more extensive repair work. Regular maintenance and care will reduce the need for frequent repairs and replacements, keeping your heaters running safely and at their best.
Always check your gas cylinder regularly to ensure it has enough fuel. Frequent fuel depletion can damage the starter mechanism. If the cylinder is full but the heater still doesn't light, the ignition system may need repair or replacement—either partially or entirely. Listen for a hissing sound from the burner. If you hear gas moving into the burner, the problem likely lies with the igniter.
Heaters with electric ignition systems light the fuel with a spark. If you see a spark but the heater doesn't light, there might be a blockage preventing the fuel from reaching the spark. In such cases, try lighting the unit with a butane lighter. If this fails and the cylinder contains fuel, the fuel delivery line might be clogged or disconnected.
Inspect your ignition system regularly for soot, corrosion, and damage. If you operate heaters for customers in outdoor patio areas, it’s best to conduct your checks early in the day before you need to use the heaters. This gives you ample time to address any mechanical issues and keep your guests comfortable. When inspecting or repairing the ignition system, always ensure the fuel delivery system is turned off to prevent accidental ignition.
The second most maintenance-intensive component of your Ambiance and Sunglo outdoor heaters is the fuel regulator. This pipe connects the fuel cylinder to the burner unit and should be inspected regularly for damage or blockages. Look for breaks, corrosion, blockages, or perforations. A damaged regulator could fail to deliver fuel to the ignition, and in rare cases, improper handling could lead to external fuel ignition. While uncommon, such events can be avoided with proper care and maintenance.
Lastly, it’s crucial to regularly check and clean the gas pipe. Although rare, outdoor heater gas pipes can become clogged. Remove and inspect this component after long periods of storage and at least once per season of use. Blockages in the gas pipe can cause significant problems if not addressed regularly. The best approach is to remove the pipe and blow air through it. Familiarize yourself with how it feels when clear by doing this with a new heater. Any blockages should come out easily. Stubborn ones can be cleared with hot water. Be sure to dry the part thoroughly before reinstalling it.
Patio heaters are straightforward and generally reliable, but regular care is essential for safe and optimal operation.
Replacing worn or old components is a smart way to maximize your investment over time. Proper maintenance ensures efficient and safe heater performance. Replacing any worn or broken parts will prolong the life of your heater and help ensure your heaters remain dependable sources of warmth and comfort.
