This message comes from Larry Shapiro:
At around 5:30 AM, the Lake Zurich Fire Department got a call about a big house on fire in Deer Park. This house, which had been empty for several years, already had visible flames coming from its flat roof when the first fire trucks arrived. Since this place is in an area without any hydrants nearby, the first engine tried using its onboard water supply through the deck gun but quickly ran out. That's when they decided to set up a tanker shuttle to bring more water.
A second alarm was called in to request additional tanker support. Large diameter hoses were laid down from Cuba Road all the way to the burning house, covering almost an entire block. The firefighters managed to contain the blaze, but it had already caused significant damage to the roof and attic areas.

Here’s another angle of the incident captured by Vince Clemens.
It was quite a scene early this morning as the flames spread rapidly due to the dry conditions and the extended period since the last rainfall. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far, but the structural integrity of the building is compromised. Fire investigators will likely be on-site soon to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Residents in the surrounding area were advised to stay indoors and keep their windows closed to avoid inhaling smoke. Emergency services worked tirelessly throughout the morning to ensure everyone's safety and minimize further damage.
The community is rallying together to offer support and assistance to those affected by the fire. Local shelters have been opened to accommodate displaced residents if necessary. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
