Volvo celebrated the 25th anniversary of the birth of its 16-liter engine. In 1987, Volvo’s flagship model FH16 was equipped with a new 16-liter engine that could reach 470 horsepower. Since then, 16-liter inline The six-cylinder engine has been used as a special model for the top models of Volvo heavy trucks.
Large horsepower low emission engine
The new engine uses the same technology as the current 16-litre 700-hp diesel engine, an inline 6-cylinder overhead camshaft turbocharged diesel engine with four-valve per cylinder. It has been optimized for higher power and torque but can ensure that the fuel consumption is equivalent to the 700 horsepower model. There are two versions of this 750-horsepower engine, one that meets Euro 5 emissions standards, while the other can meet the more stringent EEV standard between Euro 5 and Euro 6. 
The engine started to break out at 900 rpm and reached a maximum of 3550 Nm at 1050 rpm and was able to maintain this torque at 1400 rpm.
Volvo's I-Shift automatic transmission is standard equipment and has been modified to accommodate the engine's high torque. The rear axle is also very rich, including wheel-side reduction bridges that can accommodate 250 tons of heavy loads. For the needs of high-speed express delivery, the recently launched RS1360 single-stage reduction bridge is a fuel-efficient choice. 
For most FH16 users, transporting as many cargoes as possible is the primary goal in the shortest possible time. However, many customers have to travel long distances and different terrains during transportation, and the continuous evolution of the FH16 truck enables Give them the best choice. The main purpose of the launch of the FH16 750 truck is overweight and large-scale transportation, as well as ordinary road transportation with high operating speeds on hilly and mountain roads.
When this 750-horsepower model was added to the existing 16-liter Volvo army, the Volvo FH16 now has a total of four horsepower segments to choose from, namely 540, 600, 700 and 750 horsepower. 
Volvo 16-liter truck evolution
In 25 years, Volvo's 16-liter engine truck has undergone many changes and optimizations. After the F16 truck used the first 16-liter engine in 1987, the horsepower rose with the changes of the times. The FH16 truck launched in 1993 has a maximum horsepower of 520 horsepower. In 10 years, a brand new 16-liter engine has reached 610 horsepower. In 2009, the 16-liter engine pushed the horsepower to the 700 mark for the first time. After two years of training, it finally reached 750 mega-horsepower in 2011.
