The Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Departments joined forces with the Patriot Guard Riders to honor Airman Ben Rosengarden as he returned home from Afghanistan on Thursday evening. A special dinner was held in his honor at the Village Bar & Grill in Buffalo Grove, where local firefighters and police officers came together to recognize his service. The event featured a heartfelt welcome, with members of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department deploying several units to pay tribute to the veteran. In a moving display of support, officers from both the Buffalo Grove and Deerfield police departments led a ceremonial procession from Deerfield to the restaurant, accompanied by members of the Patriot Guard Riders. The convoy passed under a large American flag, symbolizing the community's appreciation for Rosengarden’s dedication and sacrifice. Several photos captured the moment, showing Buffalo Grove Tower Ladder 25 with a flag raised high, a police officer leading the escort, and firefighters standing in formation as the procession passed by. In one image, Airman Rosengarden is seen greeting the firefighters who had come to thank him for his service. These images, taken by Larry Shapiro, reflect the deep respect and gratitude the community has for those who serve. For more photos from the event, you can view the full gallery here.
