A version of this letter was featured in Autodesk’s FY22 Impact Report.

Forty years ago, a group of passionate technologists laid the foundation for what would become Autodesk. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to make design and engineering tools accessible to all, believing that widespread access to technology could drive progress across industries and benefit society as a whole.

Over the decades, Autodesk has grown significantly, but our core values have remained unchanged. We believe that when used thoughtfully, technology can be a force for good—helping us measure and reduce carbon emissions, improve global health, and create opportunities for people to grow professionally and personally.

This mission is more vital than ever. As we look ahead, challenges like climate change and inequality in the job market require bold and immediate action. In the short term, we're also dealing with global conflicts, inflation, supply chain issues, and increasingly remote workforces—all of which have real economic and social consequences. I believe that in times of uncertainty, it's essential to return to the fundamentals: strengthening communities, building resilience, and focusing on positive outcomes for society.

Last year, we introduced a new impact strategy to guide our efforts. While we've made meaningful progress, there's still a long way to go. We have several key areas where we can drive change: how we run our business, the solutions we offer to our customers, and our collective role in advancing industry transformation.

Autodesk’s impact strategy includes improving our operations, working closely with customers, and driving industry-wide change.

This report outlines how we’re approaching these interconnected goals. Each part supports the others. By better understanding and managing our own environmental and social impacts, we’re better equipped to help our customers do the same. And by delivering outcome-driven solutions, we support broader industry shifts toward a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive future.

Improving Our Operations

We understand that leading by example is crucial. That’s why we’ve made sustainability a priority in our internal operations. Our Carbon Fund is central to achieving our net-zero and renewable energy goals, and we recently increased our internal carbon price to match current market rates. We are also making steady progress toward our three-year diversity and inclusion targets. To ensure accountability, we’ve strengthened our governance across ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) issues.

Partnering With Customers

As we deepen our relationships with customers, we're helping them build better solutions, connect their data, and achieve the results that matter most. This enables them to meet rising demands for sustainable buildings, resilient infrastructure, and waste reduction in consumer goods. Last year, we expanded our platform capabilities to help customers scale their impact. We launched microclimate analysis tools, digital twin solutions, and new features to improve efficiency in construction. We also introduced factory optimization tools for manufacturing and broadened our water management offerings. These innovations help customers manage risk and meet the growing need for sustainable practices.

Advancing Industries

By investing in technologies that transform how our customers operate, we help reshape entire industries. Through the integration of design and production, the merging of different sectors, and expanding our partner ecosystem, we empower customers to cut carbon emissions, reduce water use, and minimize waste. Through certification programs and policy advocacy, we aim to create more inclusive opportunities and contribute to broader global initiatives.

I’m deeply grateful to our customers, employees, and investors for their continued support. I welcome ongoing collaboration as we move forward together. By staying true to our values, investing in our communities, and focusing on meaningful outcomes, I believe we can build a better world—one that’s designed and made for everyone.
