This is where DeckSight comes in. It’s a game-changing upgrade that allows you to swap out your current LCD screen for a superior 1080P AMOLED display without having to make major adjustments to your Valve Steam Deck. DeckSight boasts higher resolution, richer hues, and unmatched black levels compared to standard LCD screens, making it a fantastic upgrade for anyone looking to enhance their gaming experience.

Besides the top-notch OLED panel, DeckSight also features an integrated touchscreen that’s optically bonded to a custom cover glass. This is a crucial part of the upgrade process. Although final specifications are still under testing, it’s clear that DeckSight will offer improved peak brightness, faster refresh rates, and enhanced battery efficiency compared to the Steam Deck’s original LCD panel.

Installation

Fitting the DeckSight isn’t overly complicated. The iFixit guide (https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Steam+Deck+Screen+Replacement/148986) provides step-by-step instructions for removing the LCD screen. Users should also be aware that the new FPC ribbon cable is a specially designed component to ensure seamless compatibility with the display panel.

To use DeckSight with your Steam Deck, you’ll need a custom BIOS. Shade Technik’s GitHub repository contains the BIOS patch utility for this purpose. It’s worth noting that the upgrade isn’t irreversible; if you decide to switch back to the original LCD setup, you can simply restore the default Steam Deck BIOS and reinstall the original LCD at any time.

Important Note: DeckSight is not compatible with the 2023 OLED models of the Steam Deck.
