This message comes from Eric Haak: Around 1:20 PM on Sunday, the 22nd Battalion dispatched Engines 120 and 115 along with Trucks 24 and 27 to 1240 West 111th Place. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story, ordinary structure measuring 25 by 40 feet that was occupied. The fire had broken out on the rear of the second floor. Firefighters quickly managed to extinguish the flames within about ten minutes. Unfortunately, one firefighter had to be taken to Metro South Medical Center for observation. Truck 40 was assigned as RIT under the supervision of the 21st Battalion. Here are some photos I took of the incident. The first image shows the initial response where firefighters were actively working to control the blaze. In the second picture, you can see how the situation evolved as the operation continued. The third shot highlights the extent of the damage sustained by the building. The fourth photo captures the firefighters’ efforts to ensure the fire didn’t spread further. Finally, the last image gives a broader view of the scene, illustrating the scale of the emergency response required. These images provide just a glimpse into what it takes to manage such incidents. It’s always impressive to witness the dedication and teamwork displayed by our first responders during these challenging situations. *Photos by Eric Haak*
