Six members of the Hudson fire department, located in western McLean County, were involved in a serious incident while responding to an accident on a snow-covered stretch of Interstate 39 near Hudson on Tuesday evening. Tragically, one of them lost their life in the line of duty.

Initial investigations suggest that Brown succumbed to severe blunt force trauma—specifically to his head, chest, and pelvis—after being struck by a southbound semi-truck carrying cars. Coroner Beth Kimmerling expressed her condolences in a formal statement, emphasizing the devastating nature of such losses within tight-knit communities like Hudson.
Hudson Fire Chief Dan Hite shared heartfelt words about Brown's contributions to both the department and the broader community. "Today we lost a beloved member of our Hudson family," he said.
