The AEC Excellence Awards 2018 is proud to present an esteemed panel of judges, comprising thought leaders and practitioners from around the globe. This independent committee will be tasked with selecting the Innovator of the Year and evaluating entries related to infrastructure design, building design, and construction based on stringent criteria. Their goal is to recognize the trailblazers and groundbreaking projects that are shaping the future of creating structures for the built environment.
Submissions for the AEC Excellence Awards 2018 are currently open and will close on July 31, 2018. Following this date, the judges will convene to deliberate and select the finalists, who will be announced in September. **Ada Fung**

Ada Fung, BBS, JP, serves as the Chairperson for the Committee on BIM of the Construction Industry Council and is actively pushing for the full-scale adoption of BIM in Hong Kong. Previously, she held positions such as Chairperson of the Architects Registration Board, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and Chairperson of the APEC Architect Monitoring Committee of Hong Kong. She also served as the Deputy Director of Housing, overseeing the Development & Construction Division of the Housing Department (HD). Ada is a fervent advocate of BIM and introduced it into the HD in 2006. Under her leadership, the HD has become a key player in BIM development within Hong Kong's construction sector, pioneering innovations in building, civil engineering, and GIS.
**Aileen Cho**

Aileen Cho has spent 22 years at Engineering News-Record, where she is a senior editor. Her reporting on airports, ports, transit, highways, and bridges has earned multiple accolades from business publications and engineering societies. In 2015, she traveled across the United States in a 1949 Hudson, visiting various construction projects and public works departments for ENR. The following year, she embarked on a similar journey focused on aviation, visiting 16 airports. Her work has been featured in publications like the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times.
**Donna Laquidara-Carr**

Donna Laquidara-Carr is the Industry Insights Research Director at Dodge Data & Analytics. She provides editorial guidance for the SmartMarket Report Series, covering topics such as global green building trends, the business value of BIM, managing risk in construction, healthier buildings, safety culture, and lean construction. Her expertise has been published in numerous industry journals. She frequently conducts webinars and speaks at events for organizations like the AIA National Conference, Greenbuild, the inaugural WELL Conference, and BOMA.
**Dr. Jack Cheng**

Dr. Jack Cheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He directs the RFID Center and serves as Associate Director of the GREAT Smart Cities Center. He earned his PhD from Stanford University. His research spans BIM, 3D GIS, IoT, computer vision, data mining, construction informatics and management, green buildings, and smart cities. Dr. Cheng holds several key roles, including Chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers Global Center of Excellence for Computing, Chairman of the Autodesk Industry Advisory Board in Hong Kong, and Director of the ASCE Hong Kong Section. He is also a Professional Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Building Information Modeling and a Certified Carbon Auditor Professional. Dr. Cheng received the Young BIMer of the Year BIM Excellence Award in Hong Kong in 2014.
**Dr. Jeong Woo**

Dr. Jeong Woo is a Professor and Program Director of Construction Management at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. His research and teaching focus on Architectural Engineering and Construction Management, particularly in BIM and building energy efficiency. He has presented his research at events like Autodesk University, ASCE Construction Research Congress, and ASC (Associated Schools of Construction). He received the ASC National Teaching Excellence award in 2013 and the ASC National Outstanding Researcher award in 2015. He holds a PhD in Architecture and an MS in Construction Management from Texas A&M University.
**Dr. JoaquÃn DÃaz**

Dr. JoaquÃn DÃaz is a Professor of Information Technology in Engineering and the Scientific Director of the 5D Laboratories at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen – University of Applied Sciences. He also serves on advisory bodies and boards related to technology and construction, including the Federal Ministry of Traffic and Construction and the Federal Ministry of Economics & Technology. He is the President of the Association of Software Companies in Germany and a Director of TransMIT GmbH, a technology transfer organization.
**Keiichiro Taniguchi**

Keiichiro Taniguchi is an architect and sustainable designer. After completing his education at the University of Tokyo, he joined Nikken Sekkei's design department. In 2016, he became a Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo. His primary research interest involves developing methods to integrate environmental simulations (energy, daylight, wind) into architectural design for sustainability. His current work focuses on creating platforms for these simulations using BIM.
**Lachmi Khemlani**

Lachmi Khemlani is the founder and editor of AECbytes, a platform established in 2003 to analyze and review technology products and services for the building industry. She also consults extensively on AEC technology implementation. With a PhD in Architecture from UC Berkeley and previous experience as a practicing architect and CAD/3D modeling instructor, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her work.
**Liang Jin**

Liang Jin is a renowned expert in BIM standards development and application in China. As the Director of the Software School BIM Project Team at Tsinghua University, he has led efforts in compiling numerous BIM standards and conducting research. His contributions include strategies for IT in China’s construction industry, frameworks for architectural information models, and guides for implementing BIM in various sectors.
**Liu Zhiming**

Liu Zhiming is the Vice President of the China Water Conservancy and Hydropower Investigation and Design Association (CWHIDA) and President of the China Water Conservancy and Hydropower BIM Alliance. Under his leadership, the alliance was established in 2016 to promote BIM adoption across more than 30 companies in the industry. He has overseen significant projects like the Three Gorges Dam and the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, earning national awards for his work.
**Luke Faulkner**

Luke Faulkner is the Director of Technology Integration for the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), where he focuses on BIM implementation and eCommerce for the structural steel industry. Before joining AISC, he managed projects and budgets in the mechanical contracting sector. Faulkner holds a BS in Building Construction Technology from Purdue University.
**Mark Scacco**

With nearly 25 years of experience in the AEC industry, Mark Scacco has helped integrate technology into workflows to boost productivity and profitability. He has authored dozens of articles and whitepapers on leveraging technology effectively. A licensed engineer and FAA-certified pilot, he collaborates with various stakeholders in the AEC community.
**Dr. Masatoyo Ogasawara**

Dr. Masatoyo Ogasawara is a registered architect in New York and Japan. After working in the U.S., he founded his firm in Tokyo. His practice has executed projects globally, including in Singapore, the U.S., Finland, and Hong Kong. He completed his doctoral thesis on design management, focusing on information sharing between Japanese and U.S. projects. Besides his practice, he teaches at Tokyo Denki University.
**Monica Schnitger**

Monica Schnitger specializes in analyzing software tools used in the AEC industry. With over 30 years of experience, she has provided forecasts and market models for CAD/CAM, CAE, PLM, GIS, infrastructure, AEC, and plant design software markets since 1999. She holds a BS in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from MIT and an MBA from Babson College.
**Russell Loveridge**

Russell Loveridge is the Managing Director of the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Digital Fabrication. With degrees in civil engineering, architecture, and advanced studies, he combines academic and professional expertise. His research explores advanced fabrication, smart materials, and construction techniques. At NCCR, he leads a multidisciplinary team of over 120 researchers, engineers, and technicians.
**Ryota Ieiri**

Ryota Ieiri has specialized in BIM, IT, and AEC journalism since 1989. He has worked as a civil engineer, is a registered management consultant, and teaches at Kansai University. An avid aviator, he enjoys flying around the San Francisco Bay Area.
**Sheng Liming**

Sheng Liming is the President of the China Railway BIM Alliance. A seasoned expert in railways and bridges, she has led BIM initiatives in railway engineering since 2013. She has spearheaded breakthroughs in railway structural standards, information classification, and coding, laying the groundwork for widespread BIM adoption in the industry.
**Xavier Fodor**

Xavier Fodor is the editor-in-chief of SIGMAG and SIGTV.FR. Specializing in AEC technologies since 1999, he covers BIM and GIS extensively.
**Dr. Zhang Liwei**

Dr. Zhang Liwei is the Deputy Director of the Bureau of Public Works of Shenzhen Municipality and a Senior Engineer. He has been instrumental in promoting BIM in government projects, authoring China’s first BIM implementation outline for public works in 2015. He has also developed over 40 BIM guidelines and standards for government projects.
**Zulfikar Adamu**

Zulfikar Adamu is an Associate Professor of Strategic IT in Construction at London South Bank University. Trained as an architect, he integrates BIM into academic curricula and explores construction data analytics, IoT, and VR/AR in construction.
