Dan McInerney sent in these photos from an incident that happened at 4404 W. Roosevelt. The building involved appeared to be some kind of recycling facility. Engine 38 was dispatched for an ambulance assist and ended up dealing with a burn victim, prompting the deployment of Battalion Chief 13 (Bn13). Later, the Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) visited the victim at the hospital to gather more details.
Attached here is a shot of Chicago Fire Department Ambulance 21, also known as C-142. This is one of their newer units, built on a Ford F450 chassis by Braun. It’s a solid vehicle that you can see in action across the city. Dan McInerney took this picture.
Next up, we have Chicago Engine 38, a workhorse that’s been around since 2006. It’s a Spartan Gladiator model painted in the department's signature crimson color scheme. This particular engine carries the shop number D-631. As always, Dan McInerney captured it beautifully.
Finally, here’s a look at Chicago Battalion 13. This unit operates out of a 2010 Ford Expedition, identifiable by its shop number B-547. The vehicle has seen plenty of service over the years but remains a reliable part of the fleet. Dan McInerney snapped this image too.
This incident serves as a reminder of how diverse the calls can be for Chicago firefighters. From medical assists to investigations, they handle it all with professionalism and dedication. I hope everyone involved gets the care they need moving forward.
