Larry Shapiro recently visited Aurora and captured some great photos of their newly delivered vehicles. The fire department has added three impressive units to their fleet, each representing cutting-edge technology and functionality.
The first is Engine 1, which now sports a 2012 E-ONE Cyclone II MFD 1500/750/30B top-mount engine, bearing serial number #137594 and Aurora ID 33-855. This powerful piece of equipment replaces the older 1992 E-ONE Protector TC 1500/750/50 that had served the department faithfully for years. Interestingly, at one point, Engine 1 was even equipped with a 1975 Hendrickson 1871S/Pierce 1250/750 model. Larry's images beautifully showcase both the interior and exterior of the new Engine 1, highlighting its sleek design and advanced features.
Following suit, Engine 10 also welcomed a brand-new 2012 E-ONE Cyclone II MFD 1500/750/30B top-mount engine, with serial number #137595 and Aurora ID 33-845. This upgrade marks a significant leap forward in firefighting capabilities. The previous truck assigned to Engine 10, an Aurora ID 33-877 vehicle, was highlighted in a previous post. An older model from 1996, the E-ONE Protector TC 1500/750/50, had been a reliable workhorse for many years before making way for this latest addition.
Finally, Truck 6, the department’s tower ladder, received a fresh 2012 E-ONE Cyclone II MFD 0/0 HP95 RM tower ladder, identified by serial number #137593 and Aurora ID 33-827. This ladder replaces the previous 1998 model mounted on a Hurricane chassis. Larry’s photos capture the essence of this new truck, from its imposing rear view to its striking front angle, showcasing its impressive reach and modern engineering.
