Ford Says Software Fault Causes Overheated Engine of Recall Vehicle According to Reuters, Ford said on Monday that the overheating of the 89,000 Muggets and Fusions it recalled on November 30 was due to a failure of the software that monitored the car's cooling system.

It is reported that cooling system piping in these two vehicles will produce pressure loss under certain conditions, which will cause the engine to overheat during operation. Ford said it will update its cooling system monitoring software for the vehicle concerned.

Ford stated in a statement: "After the software is updated, under certain conditions, it will better control the engine temperature."

Ford’s report to the U.S. safety regulator showed that so far there have been at least nine car-fire accidents caused by the overheating of the engines of these two vehicles.

Since July this year, Ford has conducted a total of four recalls of the 2013 Wing Tiger, including two of its turbo engine failures. The 2013 Mavericks and Fusions are considered to be the two most failing models Ford released this year.
