4.Overview Infrared Thermometers are designed to quickly measure body temperature by detecting the infrared energy emitted from the eardrum or forehead. Users can obtain accurate results within seconds after positioning the sensor correctly in the ear or on the forehead. Normal body temperature varies depending on the measurement site. The table below shows that different areas have different normal ranges. Therefore, readings from different locations should not be compared directly. It's important to inform your doctor about the type of thermometer used and the location where the temperature was taken, especially if you're diagnosing yourself.  Measurements Forehead temperature 36.1°C to 37.5°C (97°F to 99.5°F) Ear temperature 35.8°C to 38°C (96.4°F to 100.4°F) Oral temperature 35.5°C to 37.5°C (95.9°F to 99.5°F) Rectal temperature 36.6°C to 38°C (97.9°F to 100.4°F) Axillary temperature 34.7°C-37.3°C (94.5°F-99.1°F)  5.Structure The thermometer consists of a casing, an LCD screen, a measurement button, a buzzer, an infrared temperature sensor, and a microprocessor. 6.Operating principle The infrared temperature sensor captures the infrared energy emitted by the eardrum or skin surface. This energy is focused by a lens and converted into a temperature reading using thermopiles and measurement circuits. 7.Indications for use The Dual-mode Infrared Thermometer is intended for measuring human body temperatures. The forehead mode is suitable for all ages, while the ear mode is recommended for individuals over three months old. 8.Contraindications Do not use the thermometer if the ear is infected with otitis or suppuration. 9.Temperature taking tips 1) It is essential to know each individual’s normal temperature when they are healthy. This helps in accurately identifying fever. Record measurements twice daily (morning and afternoon), and take the average to determine the normal oral equivalent temperature. Always measure at the same location, as readings may vary across different spots on the forehead. 2) A child's normal temperature can range up to 99.9°F (37.7°C) or as low as 97.0°F (36.11°C). Note that this device reads 0.5°C (0.9°F) lower than a rectal digital thermometer. 3) External factors can affect ear temperature, such as lying on one side, having ears covered, exposure to extreme temperatures, or recent swimming or bathing. In these cases, move the person away from the situation and wait 20 minutes before taking a temperature. Use the untreated ear if there are prescription ear drops or other medications in the canal. 4) Holding the thermometer too long in your hand before measuring can cause it to warm up, leading to inaccurate readings. 5) Both the patient and the thermometer should remain in a stable room environment for at least 30 minutes. 6) Before placing the sensor on the forehead, clean any dirt, hair, or sweat. Wait 10 minutes after cleaning before taking the measurement. 7) Use an alcohol swab to carefully clean the sensor and wait 5 minutes before taking a measurement on another patient. Wiping the forehead with a warm or cool cloth may affect the reading. It is advisable to wait 10 minutes before taking a reading. 8) In the following situations, it is recommended to take 3-5 readings in the same location and choose the highest one: Newborn infants in their first 100 days. Children under three years old with a compromised immune system, where fever detection is critical. When learning to use the thermometer for the first time until consistent readings are achieved. 10.Care and cleaning Use an alcohol swab or cotton swab moistened with 70% alcohol to clean the thermometer casing and the measuring probe. Allow the alcohol to dry completely before taking a new measurement. Ensure no liquid enters the interior of the thermometer. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, thinners, or benzene. Never immerse the device in water or other liquids. Be careful not to scratch the LCD screen. 11.Warranty and After-Sale Service The device comes with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase. Batteries, packaging, and damage caused by improper use are not covered by the warranty. Excluding the following user-caused failures: Failure due to unauthorized disassembly or modification. Failure due to accidental dropping during use or transport. Failure due to not following the operating manual instructions.
