“For water pollution, there are various methods such as biodegradation.” Chen Dongling, a sophomore in chemistry at the school, told reporters that photocatalysis using solar energy sources can produce highly active oxidizing active species and fully oxidize organic pollutants. , is an effective method of degradation, and the cost is very low.

However, most of the photo-degraded materials used ultraviolet light before. However, due to the fog in Chongqing, only 5% of the UV light reaches the ground.

"But when visible light reaches the ground, there is still 50% utilization rate, so we need to find a photodegradable material that uses visible light to function in Chongqing." Dozens of tests have found that a material made of chloridic chloride mixed with cadmium sulfide can respond to visible light and can perform very good degradation of toxic phenolic substances, benzene and other organic substances.

Today, the team has also overcome the difficulties of large-scale industrial production of this material. The cost is low and it can be used repeatedly.
