2SK Pump Description:

The 2SK series two-stage water ring vacuum pump and the 2SK-P1 series two-stage water ring vacuum pump—air injection unit are high-performance vacuum systems designed for high vacuum levels, fast evacuation in high vacuum ranges, compact structure, reliable performance, and easy assembly and disassembly. These pumps are developed according to the standards set by JB/TQ354-84 (Water Ring Vacuum Pump and Water Ring Air Compressor).

This system includes a single-stage air injection pump and a two-stage water ring vacuum pump that can be used separately as per client requirements.

The two-stage water ring vacuum pump or unit is suitable for pumping non-corrosive gases that are insoluble in water and free from solid particles, making it ideal for achieving high vacuum in sealed vessels.

Working Principle:

The working principle of the two-stage water ring vacuum pump is illustrated in the figure below. When the eccentrically mounted impellers inside the pump housing rotate, water is thrown outward due to centrifugal force, forming a rotating water ring between the inner surface of the pump body and the impeller. As the impeller rotates clockwise, the inner surface of the water ring gradually moves away from the hub during the first half rotation, allowing gas to be drawn into the cavity through the crescent-shaped suction port via the pump inlet pipe. In the second half rotation, the water ring approaches the hub, causing the cavity between adjacent impellers to shrink, compressing the gas and expelling it when the internal pressure exceeds the external pressure, thus creating a vacuum.

The air injection pump works by using a jet injector. When the two-stage water ring vacuum pump reaches maximum vacuum, the atmosphere pump is connected. At this point, air (or pressurized gas) is rapidly drawn into the pipe due to the pressure difference between the air and the intake pipe. After exiting the nozzle, the flow rate increases, reducing the pressure, which results in a higher vacuum level than the pump itself. This process continues to draw More gas into the pump, enhancing the vacuum effect.

The structural diagram of the two-stage water ring vacuum pump with a capacity over 1.5 m³/min is shown in Figure 2. The longer impeller (17) and shorter impeller (16) are fixed to the shaft (2) with pins, and the two impellers are secured together with a shaft sleeve (20) and a round nut, forming the rotor. The impellers are installed eccentrically within the pump body and supported by two single-row radial ball bearings. The rotor is connected to the motor shaft via a coupling (18), allowing both to rotate together. The longer impeller, longer pump body, and suction section create high vacuum, while the shorter pump body, shorter impeller, and discharge section form low vacuum. The outlet of the high-vacuum segment and the inlet of the low-vacuum segment are connected via a communicating pipe, enabling dual-stage tandem operation. The two segments are separated by intermediate walls (A) and (B), with wall (B) featuring an intake port. The 2SK series two-stage pumps are mechanically sealed at both ends.

The high-vacuum segment has a water inlet hole for filling make-up water into the longer pump body, while the low-vacuum segment receives make-up water from the high-vacuum side. For models like 2SK-12A, 2SK-20A, and 2SK-30A, some make-up water is also supplied through a water supply pipe but requires regulation via valves. The high- and low-vacuum segments are secured together with draw-in bolts. The air injection pump consists of an inlet air pipe, jet nozzle, air valve body, and diffuser.
